Edge Magazine Officially Voted Worst Magazine Readership of All Time By Kyle Brown

Summary:

The readers of Edge Magazine were surveyed to find the 100 greatest games of all time, and the best these scrubs could come up with was Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I can almost let that slide, almost. Though it is obviously known as fact that Link to the Past is the best game from that series, by a landslide. But to prove that these people need to be put into an asylum until they can show an inkling of reasoning, I present you the rest of the top 10:

  • 4. Half Life 2
  • 5. Super Mario World
  • 6. Zelda: A Link to the Past

    this list doesnt even make any sense. Tetris is a great game...but, i don't think it counts on this sort of list.

    Final Fantasy XII?
    XII?

    I hate VII, because I am incapable of caring about hexagons and triangles, despite how much they might frown, but even I know that XII isn't the best Final Fantasy and that VII probably is.

    And, yes, Tetris is not for lists like this.

    I'm with you up until 7 probably is. Yeah. That's right. 7. SEVEN. Fuck your roman numerals, man.

    Seriously? Seven as the best Final Fantasy? So misguided.

    Four and Six? Replayable as fuck. Also? No spinoffs into new genres as a cash grab. And a story that.. you know.. makes sense.. 7? some flashy flashy stuff for the time. Notice the new games/movies that come out of Seven are crap? But PRETTY crap?

    I think 4, 6, 9, and if it allowed to count, tactics are the best of the series followed by possibly 7. Seven just made the series mainstream.

    I think Final Fantasy Legend was the best Final Fantasy game because it's the only one I've ever finished and it was the only one that would run on my Palm V Gameboy Emulator.

    The funniest thing about the list is that it's not actually Edge's readers faults entirely. They voted what games should be in the top 100 - then the Edge staff arranged that Top 100 in the order they felt like.

    Which struck me as kinda the worst of both worlds.

    Yes that is one of the worst 20 games all time in my opinion at #12 - Vice City. Also, Crackdown cracking the top 100 is a disgrace to anyone, even those incapable of rational thought. No way Street Fighter anniversary beats SFII, simply impossible. TONY HAWKS PRO SKATER 2???? I want to hurt myself now. Wow, Football Manager 2007, now there is a title all the kids love. I'm going to stop now, and possibly shoot myself.

    BTW thanks Kieron for explaining how good games could exist in the list while being intermeshed with absolute trash. It explains a lot, and also tells me that the Edge staff needs to put down the N64.

    The N64 was probably their first Nintendo.

    As we age the reality of this situation becomes more apparent. Kids today? They never had an NES. They never had an S-NES. They STARTED with the N64.

    ICO was a good game, I have no problem with it being on this list. I'm not going to mock the orderings completely because it is just too hard to compare games in a standard this is better than that, especially cross genre.

    true, but the Edge staff should have been knowledgeable enough to order it such that Link to the Past would come before Ocarina of Time. The kiddies could have voted OoT into the list somewhere, but it was the mag's staff's responsibility to give an order.

    I don't think it's that difficult to compare them when you specify the criteria by which they are judged. Genre doesn't necessarily matter across games.

    You critique the games within their genres, then compare them based upon those stats. An RPG that gets a 92% is better than a Puzzle game that got a 65%.
