Fundamental Atheists....

Now I am no atheist. I am a firm believer in not taking a firm belief.
But I found this article interesting and somewhat funny and frightening. What are your thoughts?

  2. Yeah. i have met some, i guess you would call them 'evangelical' atheists who are set on converting people to their viewpoint. I just don't understand why they care enough to invest so much time and energy into it. but i guess belief is belief and people want to invest time and energy in what they hold to be true.

  3. Evangelical atheism is a good phrase.

I agree with Andrew; expending that much energy is mostly needless.

  4. Well, here is a better way of saying it.

If one happens upon a person of religious persuasion who has deeply maintained religious beliefs I think it both enjoyable and fruitful to mock and scorn them for the purpose of dissuading them or, at best, making them cry.

To make general claims or works or symbolic gestures aimed not at particular individuals but rather cultures or general wholes seems like a different sort of thing.

So, to make a picture of Christ fornicating with a dog can be offensive...but it mostly just irritates groups of people; it will probably not change a mind or further debate.

Whereas, in a conversation with another individual, if I call their god a dog-fucker that has the potential for accomplishing something.
