While still impressive, we didn't completely do SM. We only did the library and armory. I'm not sure it will be possible to finish the place considering the levels of enemies (especially the bosses) of the Cathedral.
I'm still quite impressed by how well we did. Sure, you could sheep a mob each battle and Ninja can hold aggro to an absurd degree. But we still did very well.
I've been reading reviews of the Dungeon Siege movie, and they forced me to realize that aside from the pack mule, I don't remember one goddamned thing about the game Dungeon Siege.
I played it. I'm quite certain I finished it. But I haven't even the slightest idea of what went on.
Oh, I do remember that skills improved with use, and that I think that kind of system is a great idea. Not exactly plot related, but it's something.
I made it slightly over halfway through and realized that at no point would the literally linear progression end so I ended it.
I remember that at some point I found a giant eye that took up four inventory spots and according to the internet it was somehow quest related but I couldn't find the quest or bring myself to care about it.
The mule was a neat idea...except that it continually got lost in the mines and I had to go back and find it.
Did I mention that all of the maps were lines between two points and there was no way to deviate from the path?
You don't get to claim that you made the "world's thinnest notebook" if to use it one has to carry around copious amounts of accessories just to watch a DVD or connect to ethernet.
I would also like the point out, that while shitting on the face of Jonah Goldberg would be be awesome, he inspired me to write my thesis with this little editorial.
I disagree, I think Thunder Bluff is fantastically designed, comfortably segregating class specific areas, while leaving all of the daily needs on the first rise, in which you would arrive. Only thing I would change would be the location in which one portals in.
If you want to see a poory designed city, look at Org and SMC.

ReplyDeleteIt was quite a significant accomplishment if only because we were fighting level 35 and 36 elites and used the hunter's turtle as our tank.
Plus, you know, it's a 5-man instance and we did it with 4.
I think it is odd that apple.com is a site about computers (or an approximation thereof) and not apples.
