That's not a particularly strong argument for having Heavy Metal in the show, certainly there are endless stoner flicks and tropes to pull out and use, but I suspect that Heavy Metal wasn't chosen to support a drug plot, but rather a drug plot was chosen to support doing a Heavy Metal episode.
