I think you could say the same thing about the DS. It is a theme of Nintendo's but it seems to work out for them more often than not.
The DS had some nice functionality to it, with two different screens to display different information.I don't think the Wii's "swing a remote, instead of pressing A" offers that same kind of functionality.I still haven't heard if the 3DS found a way to make the 3D more than a gimmick.
