The monkey says, "gripping tale" in reference to Not-Icarus' story. At the same time, the monkey hangs from its own tail by gripping a tree. The result is both a homonym from gripping, and a homophone from the tale / tail relationship.
That's the joke.
You had me at 'We shall be sustained by sustenance!'
Stirring, and so provocative.
