Roger Ebert is a hypocritcal idiot.
Recently read a Roger Ebert review of Transformers 2.
After reading through it, I felt like, ignoring minor plot specific gripes, one could level all of those same criticisms towards the first movie. I felt somewhat vindicated at that point. Then I did something stupid. I decided I would take a look at how he felt about the first movie. I thought perhaps he hated it also, and I just never noticed because I don't track with critical reviews of films.
This is what I found:
It's goofy fun with a lot of stuff that blows up real good, and it has the grace not only to realize how preposterous it is, but to make that into an asset.
Dear Roger Ebert,
Where the fuck were these legitimate gripes two years ago when Michael Bay applied his bullshit formula towards my beloved childhood? You, along with every other worthless fucking critic, and the teeming masses that wouldn't know good from a Manute Bol film are to blame for this atrocity about to be unleashed on the American public. You are the ones who gave Bay the positive reinforcement he needed to produce a steaming pile of incomprehensible shit. Worse than that, you are the ones that gave him the confidence to do it again.

I'm trying to figure out what makes the 1st movie "fun" and the 2nd movie "shit", by his reviews.
The review for the 2nd movie seems to be my review for the 1st movie.
I'm not even pissed off about the "childhood memories" aspect of Transformers. Arguing from that base, I think, makes the argument far too personal.
My gripe is that these are shitty, shitty movies with no coherent plot or story structure. It's just blue-screen splosions, crummy voiceovers, and non-acting.
You basically said the same thing I did.
The review for the sequel lines up pretty closely with our collective review of the first film.
Kyle, you need to vent more often here.
You have a subtle wit of rage that the rest of us lack.
Hey, i am nothing if not subtle.
I'm not an angry enough person to vent as often as you would like, as I have nothing to vent about.

I'm so NOT angry, I posted it twice!
Or 3 times depending on what that deleted comment was.
The deleted comment was totally not me.
