Whenever I get a chance at work, I comment on how the year has gone by so quickly. "Jeez, it's already November", I say.

"It's astounding.

Time is fleeting."

One day someone will know what the hell I'm trying to do.

i think "Lets do the time [chat] again" sounds better.

soul coughing is awesome. also, Mike Doughty's new album is really good.

Mike Lewis said...

Fedora Achewood

(oh my god that comic was five years ago)

_J_ said...

Achewood is not funny.

No, shut up.

Achewood captured the argument that went on in my head.
I am not Dan Rather and never will be...

I think the question is whether there is a fundamental nature to the Fedora such that it can only be worn by particular individuals in particular situations OR if fedoras are value-neutral.

I tend to side with the camp which maintains that headware is value-neutral.

GIS for crazy political hats.

Headwear cannot be categorically value-neutral.

I enter into evidence Native American Warbonnets, a Welsh arming cap, and anything Lady Gaga has ever placed upon her crown.

ros, "i think you mean Out Lady Gaga, may her life be long and glorious,"

I'm torn between that and the ever popular Soup's paradiddle-cadence'd pronounciation.

Each of those garments can be worn independent of their "inherent-value" such that that value is not invoked in its being worn.

One may wear an Indian Warbonnet, for example, without scalping pale-skins.

May some react to particular garments with an assumed meaning. But this does not mean that there is a meaning "in the hat" but rather particular individuals posit particular meanings onto the hat.

For example, one who is unfamiliar with Indiana Jones will not associate an occurence of a Fedora with Indiana Jones. That "meaning" is posited by an individual who makes an association.

Were the meaning and value inherent to the garment itself then recognition of this meaning or value would not be dependent upon other knowledge.

Maybe Glenn Beck meant to say we need to start linking like the Chinese.

Really.

You can wear Haus of Gaga fashion without invoking "The Fabulous"?

Sir, I ask you what planet you're living on, and have they invented technicolor yet?

Sorry Brown Brothers: Bowling is Dead.

Mike Lewis said...

i would just like to say - So You Think You Can Dance is a mostly terrible show with moments of total boredom.

That is all.

Roscoe said...

Dude. Really?

The BPAA? They're so backasswards that they've been trying to get bowling into the Olympics since before we were in elementary.

Through a period when bowling grew massively around the world, especially in South East Asian countries.

They're the keystone cops of Sports Business.

The BPAA is a joke. It doesn't have the best interests of the sport at heart. They only care about the interests of people who own bowling alleys, and finding ways to make them money.

I started streaming my music folder through the Tivo to read to tonight.

What should come on but a forgotten track: 02 Satelite (Chipmunk ala Gosnell mix)

I doff my cap, sir.
