Yeah. Well, I'll tell you one thing: This kid had a DVD in his Dell XPS cdrom drive in such a way that it would not be ejected, and in order for me to extract it( a process that is normally straightening or finding an straightened paper clip and using it to push the release button) I had to disassemble the entire motherfucking laptop because goddamned Dell XPieceofShit laptops just have a slot through which the disc is passed and no other access to the drive, in the style of a Mac, rather than a drawer which one can easily access.

Slot loading is a trap.

Top loading is where it's at. Top loading laptops will be standard by 2015.

How does one incorrectly insert a cd-rom into a drive?

One has to really fucking work at screwing that shit up.

I've had 3 laptops with slot loading optical drives and never had a jam that i could not force eject.

It appears to have broken at some point after the disc had been inserted. There were clearly mechanisms out of place, and whatever had been holding them in place was nowhere to be found.

maybe the mechanisms were gone because he accidentally dragged them to the trash can instead of the disc when he was trying to eject it.
