Not really a loss at all, more like a stealth way to regain all the advertisers he lost by moving to a "specials" format.

Though.. I suppose there's hope that he'll spectacularly implode in trying to craft his own media empire?

Things that would be funny: Advertisers still refuse to have commercials aired near Beck programming. So, with his move, FOX loses even more advertising revenue.

This that would be funny: Beck is heard my more mainstream people, who then distance themselves further from the far right conservative movement.

Actually, Glenn Beck left FOX. He was not dropped. He gave FOX better ratings during the 5pm hour than they ever had. In fact, no other news program in history has had the kind of ratings Glenn Beck had during that hour. His 5 o'clock show actually got higher ratings than most prime time news shows.

Sorry to break it to you, but Glenn Beck is a screaming success, and FOX will probably never generate the same revenue from his time slot that they did while he was there. 200 companies refusing to advertise during his show means nothing when there are hundreds of others who want a piece of his massive viewership.
