Hanover College Community-

As members of the fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, the Greek community, and Hanover College, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies with regards to the Pirate Party shirts that have been seen throughout campus. We realize the shirts were offensive and while they were done in good fun, they still represent a stereotype that our organization does not want to embody. To all of those who were offended, we are truly sorry, but again they are only t-shirts for a theme party and in no way express the values and morals of Phi Gamma Delta. We are going to begin working internally to prevent such offensive or degrading slogans from appearing on our upcoming apparel. Any further questions, comments, or concerns can be sent to the email address below.

Sincerely,

The Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta

Editors Note: Hanover College is home to the Tau Chapter of the Phi Gamma Delta.

in other words "We are not homophobic or anything, but we just hate gay people"

i am guessing it had something to do with Butt Pirates?
just throwing that one out there.

This letter is more insaulting then any dumb ass shirt would be.

ok - well not homophobic, just sexist.

caffinenation 6:02
Apperently the front is an image of a sinking ship... and the phrase "She's goin' down". and the back was the tag line, "And we're all gettin' on"

thats not only sexist, but a poorly exicuted joke.

"only t-shirts for a theme party and in no way express the values and morals of Phi Gamma Delta."

The fuck? I ALWAYS understand t-shirts to be the quintessential indicators of both one's values and morals! If someone wears a T-shirt which says "I hate black people because black people are stupid" then OBVIOUSLY that t-shirt indicates a deep-seated characteristic of that individual and serves as a portal through which the individual's true nature may be understood.

jesus fuck it's a t-shirt. When the hell did a t-shirt become a window into the soul?

Someone explain that metaphysical structure.

What's wrong with "She's goin' down" & "and we're all gettin' on". It is sexist to criticize a fraternity for implying a woman may want the attention of more than one guy whereas when many rush shirts have a guy surrounded by women. It is actually sexist in my opinion to hold out a double standard and criticize behavior in women that would be applauded in men.

I'm more interested to know how the pirate community feels about this, being defrauded as such for cheap college humor.

We really must speak out about this, because if we don't speak up for the pirates, who will?

Won't someone please think of the pirates?

The pirates are too busy listening to ALESTORM, and being out to sea.

Also, Kyle, you may not know this, but.. Hanover? Very much opposed to the pirate lifestyle.

Gotta go defend the coast. Raft Brigands sighted on the Ohio!

Yes, back in the day students had to fend off the river pirates...

and in our day we had to fend off the shower pirates...

Hanover College: Ninja Free Since 1958.

Former President Albert Parker was the leader of the Ohio Valley Ninja Union. He was roundly defeated in the last great river battle on the Central Ohio River by John Horner.

Has a Pirate, President Horner hated it when people walked on his grass and used long distance telephones.

It is unknown whether President Thomas E. Thomas (1849-1854) was a ninja.

TD . . . perhaps you should polish your skills in logic, and the usage of the word "whereas" which, contrary to popular belief does not make you sound smarter.

Praise should not be given for creating separate but equally sexist shirts. The problems created from sexual equality are not solved by being equally dehumanizing to both men and women. Of course, women and men should have the same freedom of sexual expression. But to say, "And we're all gettin' on" does not imply a woman's choice, it implies the choice of others. That is what we call rape. It's not a joke.

A t-shirt is not a window to the soul. Free speech should not be limited . . . but it is thoroughly offensive and a pathetic way to get your kicks.

Oh, I know you're thinking of the children. You filthy Paedo.

Don't deny it, I've seen your Nambla card.
