WoW SimulationCraft DPS Output

Go to this page and look at what it contains.

This is kind of mostly what I said years ago that someone needed to do. Take every possible DPS build for all classes, input the relevant data, run it through a simulation, and post the graphical output.

Now we don't have to argue about DPS builds. We have the raw data for what a given class' Damage Per Second will be in any given build given a particular gear set.

Now the only factor is that ever present "fucktard component" of "Can you push the correct buttons in the correct order, shithead?"

I think this sort of thing is enjoyable to read. But then again I really like charts and graphs. Of course, I also really like that Warlocks are top DPS in this simulation.

Though I am sort of curious as to why Drain Soul is such a significant amount of DPS in some builds.

"what I said years ago"

No link? Didn't happen.

But, you win the consolation chuckle for "'fucktard component' of 'Can you push the correct buttons in the correct order, shithead?'"

As far as I can tell WoW, and really every videogame, ever, is simply a measure of the "fucktard component".

We have a given task set before us. There is an objectively best way of acomplishing that task. The "playing" is simply a measure of one's ability to accomplish the task.

It's kind of like there is a bottle of vodka on the table. One's task is to drink the vodka and so kill one's memories of past happiness and joy and so numb one's soul. The "fucktard component" is measured by how one approaches the situation. Does one simply take the bottle and drink it? Does one pour the vodka onto the floor and lick it up? Does one attempt to eat the bottle and so die from having cut up their mouth? Does one utilize a cup to consume small measures of vodka at a time?

It's a lot about efficiency, a bit about utility, and really little more than an opportunity to be mean.

Also, I'm probably going to get more and more assholeish until the semester ends. So be warned. It's a downward spiral until next friday.

I think being given this information can completely ruin a game. I find the joy of games is the experience and the learning curve. Trying new things. Being told that a specific build will net a better class, and then doing so because one was told to, removes the joy from the game.

Call it being a fucktard if you will, but I prefer to go out of my way to try something different, because I get bored following the beaten path.

And I can respect that, because you are trying something out of the ordinary, something that can make the game different

It's about the objective.

If we want to kill boss X in the most efficient way possible then this sort of data is terrific. If we want to construct efficient groups which can most easily and successfully repeatedly kill bosses then this sort of information is useful.

If we want to play around with things and experiment then, really, this sort of information is not useful and rather is somewhat detrimental.

Sometimes I like reinventing the wheel. Other times I want to have a wheel and do something with it.

This sort of data gives us wheels.
