Special Comment: Bush's Unforgivable Interview

guy I live with came in at the end of that, loudly shouting. So much so that I started to miss it.

after he got the hint, he quieted down, but made the mistake of saying that Keith didn't actually care about this stuff.

Which is patently wrong, and somewhat funny, if only because at the beginning of the comment, I began to wonder if Jay wasn't right with his usual criticism of the Special Comments.

Keith couldn't really segue from specific incidents to the next during that comment, which stood out and was jarring. Of course, it wasn't until midway through, when I realized that was because he was to outright livid, too caught up in his frustration and rage to polish the writing...

That thing where he pauses and looks down between sections as the camera cuts back to his right? That's not unique to this Special Comment. If you go back and watch them it's how they always break up sections. The camera slowly works to him looking straight at it but they occasionally "reset" the frame by him looking down and the camera moving back to the left.

It's television, so it is structured to compell viewers to watch. That doesn't mean that Keith does not care, though.

I think Keith's primary focus was on the Golf quote, but he couldn't just do that because there were too many other things in the interview. So he had to work up to it and so the first few sections suffered because they weren't his primary focus but were rather stepping stones to get to the end.

Which was an AWESOME end.

Not the pause and look down, though the breaks come at the same spots...

I'm talking about the tenor of his voice... he all but breaks up a bit at each of the look-down cuts, and has to pause a moment to be able to get back to the calmer voice.

Normally when he has to make a cut like that, he's able to keep the vocals in control, moving fairly smoothly from angry point to continuing dissapointment, and build back up again... Not so much last night. It was literally pause, look down, breathe, and start.

I know I'm barely coherrent here, and all.. but it was different last night.. and at first, I started to pick up on the rhetoric... thought I started to see what you did when you read transcripts, but that was pretty much abandoned by the time Kurt came in.. by that point I was just straining to hear it all, without missing a beat.

Transcript

The presentation was somewhat different last night. Keith was probably mad.

And tell Kurt to shut up.
