As to the name of this column: some years ago, when I was a freshman myself, in fact, the theme chosen by the then-residents of Young House was, guess what? Faculty-student interactions! These guys decided that the official title of their residence should be "The House of Agglutination"… which basically means the place where people stick around and get to know each other face-to-face (agglutination has to do with glue, you see how it sort-of works, etc.), and they sponsored events which encouraged faculty and students to observe this principle of behavior, specifically in relation to one another. Lo and behold, three years later, the theme and title have also stuck: the current Young House residents are still promoting student-faculty interactions, and who knows how much further the legacy will carry. In honor of this idea and the fine gentlemen who have upheld it over the years, I have titled my column "The Blog of Agglutination"… and now you know, as they say, the rest of the story.

I love Stephanie Wrathburn.
