Global WoW Arena

Blizzard Launches Global WoW Arena Tournaments

The tournaments will take place on special realms that allow competitors to instantly create level-70 characters with epic equipment, placing the focus on tactics and execution rather than normal adventuring.

I think this is quite a good idea. By removing the component of leveling and grinding for gear, effectively putting all players on a level playing field, they remove that component of pvp and leave only tactics and player ability.

I like it.

This is something that Guide Wars does. As you play through, find items spells etc you have access to them in a PvP section where you can sandbox a character ONLY for PvP

it is neat

do you know if one can just spend 20$ and get access to the Global Arena? or does one have to pay for the normal game as well?

The problem is that Guild Wars sucks.

I do not know if one can only do global arena. It sounds as if global arena is more for the tournament than a stand alone variant of WoW.

For a tournament I like the idea of creating a team of three 70 characters with epic gear. For regular play throughout the year? It is not that appealing.

The point of pvp, in my skewed view of reality, is to get honor to purchase better items. Once the items are obtained and no honor is needed there is no reason to pvp. In the tournament format the ability to win prizes makes global arena appealing.

Neat idea.

i am not making any judgments about guide wars (although i would not say that it sucks, only that it was tragicly flawed)

i am only saying that this PvP arena thing is/was a core part of the game.

I still don't understand why Guild Wars did not charge a monthly fee.
