Fred Phelps to douche-up Douche's Funeral

Fred Phelps, leader of Westboro Baptist Church, has announced plans to state a protest at the Funeral of Tony Snow. I am full of conflict. I hate Fred Phelps. I hate Tony Snow. Yet...I don't know, this seem poetic somehow.

I still think it's shitty.

In part becuase Phelps isn't going to protest anything Snow had to do with.

It's hard to find poetry in two unrelated unpleasantries.

The Patriot Guard Riders are a wonderful group of gentlemen.

I'm fine with Westboro protesting Tony Snow's funeral. I do not think that Westboro hating Tony Snow in any way taints my hating Tony Snow.

Plus it's no more than the asshole deserves.

I do.. It makes people less likely to listen to your well-founded hate for the man, becuase you're lumped in with the hate around him that has nothign to do with him.

It's "I'd like anime, if not for anime fans" syndrome, put to serious purpose.

I thought about that...but the people who do that, who would lump it all together? They aren't really worth talking to in the first place. Because they won't understand Tony Snow hate anyway.

Yes, it's similar to that anime syndrome. But, again, I'm ok with ignoring those people anyway.

I'll draw a line of distinction, though, between hating anime for that reason and hating, say Magic for that reason. Because Magic is about the community and other people who play it whereas sitting alone in one's room watching Gundam in no way forces participation with the crazy people who watch Gundam.

Friday I was bitching about Tony Snow in guild chat, and I was met with a few people who said we oughtn't say anything bad about dead people.

I really wanted to bring up Hitler...but thought better of it. Because, you know, Godwin's law.

There was also a few people who didn't know who Tony Snow was, but they were canadians, so that was fine.

But the issue isn't the community, in either case.

We're talking about being judged by someone outside the community, a "third person", for the sins of the community we don't acutally accept or promote.

We're talking about having our reasonable complaints dragged down by the lunatics.

Wait, so at Tony Snow's funeral we will have Tony Snow's rotting corpse, the Fox News Assholes, the Westboro Baptist Church assholes, the Patriot Guard Riders, AND all the other news organizations covering it?

That has the potential for awesome.

I sense hopes... rising...

Clearly, they shall be dashed by mediocrity.

Anyone else notice how Fox tried to turn Tony Snow into their own little Tim Russert this weekend, and then how they couldn't find people to say nice things about him...so it sort of faded away after a while?

That made me happy.

this is what i am saying. This can only turn into a clusterfuck of awesomeness. So many hate filled assholes with cameras. It will be like Olympics only with less communist shitbags and Coke Ads. Well....Fox would sell ads at a funeral....

Can I buy advertising space on Tony Snow's coffin?

Please say that I can!
