Jekyll: Why can't American television be this good?

Recently watched the British mini-series Jekyll and all I can say, is "Wow". This is how you tell a story. If you have netflix, or some other manner in which you can procure this show, I would recommend doing so. It is only 2 discs, but packs about 6 hours of solid storyline. I couldn't get myself to walk away after any given episode, and burnt through it in a single night.

The story is based on a distant descendant of the infamous Dr. Jekyll, and how he deals with the transformation that plagued his descendant. The constantly twisting and turning story keeps you guessing and entertained at the same time.

A must see for any true fan of television.

Also, Michelle Ryan is hot.

That could be very good if one buys the premise.

Isn't that what is expected when reading or watching any fiction material?

Yeah.

But I think this is sort of like Sin City. It's so good unless one fails to grant the over-the-top premise and then it becomes incredibly silly.

Since they don't employ any sort of overtly physical change to the actor for the Jekyll portions all one must rely upon is the change in personality as portrayed by the actor. And that sort of acting, while being fucking amazing, can also lead to mockery by people who don't grant the premise.

Sure, one can not grant the premise to anything, but I think that quality acting of this sort creates a sharper distinction.

A shitty movie with shitty acting won't manifest that same need to buy the premise, i guess is what I'm saying. But something like Jekyll or Sin City can create a sharper distinction between mundane reality and

I guess I don't know what the hell i'm talking about.

Fuck you.

WoW.
