re: nomic

This is something to a fallup post to J's post about Nomic from november.

BoingBoing has a posted a link to a review for a game called Fluxx. It is like Nomic, only in the form of a card game.

There are a lot of things i dont understand. What i do understand is this game has a card called "Hippyism". how can you beat that?

The difference is that Fluxx has a far more limited scope than nomic. With Fluxx the rules will never include anything other than what the cards allow.

Nomic has no such limitation.

In the Star Wars universe there is a version of sabacc in which the rules are changed at random intervals.

I have played this game.

while sitting in a chair on 65, just before the Kennedy Bridge on the Indiana side.

How was it?

It was enjoyable, i can't imagine doing anything else while sitting on a major interstate.

You could always step in front of a car and sue the driver.

Andrew said...

oh, there were no cars at the time.

Then in what way was it a major interstate?

I've played the game, too... some podmates have it. We're not quite sure what to think.

Some say George wrote the prequels while consulting a sabacc deck.

I would accept that explanation.
