McCain Points: Roe V Wade
In an effort to gain some John McCain Action Center Points I'm going to start with an issue that ought to appeal to those Hillary Clinton voters who are threatening to vote for McCain if Blacky Blacky Demon Coon gets the nomination: Overturning Roe V Wade!
John McCain 2008:
John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. So remember, ladies: A vote for John McCain is a vote against Roe V Wade!
Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat.

The only way I can read this is he will nominate judges who won't do a god damned thing. That is kind of fucked up right there.
The supreme court's job is exactly to legislate from the bench. Their job is to interpret the constitution as best they know how and then deem the constitutionality of current legislation. As I understand it that is having a role in legislation and therefore legislating. They are the watchdogs of the constitution.
Christian right paying senators and representatives to legislate rules specific to their religion into general law? Not while a working supreme court still exists.
...I wanted to think of an extreme leftist example of lobbying for unconstitutional legislation, and for the life of me couldn't think of one.
How about communism? The left is trying to destroy the free market and eliminate private ownership. Doesn't that count?
@kyle: "Legislating from the bench" is code for "killing babies" and "decriminalizing drugs".
@caleb: I hate Communism.
I understand that communism is the extreme left, but I was looking for an example of a leftist group lobbying for legislation in direct conflict with the constitution.
I.E. - a constitutional ban on gay marriage.
"I was looking for an example of a leftist group lobbying for legislation in direct conflict with the constitution."
The people who lobbied for the Thirteenth Amendment might fit that criteria.
Right, like communism.
"I wanted to think of an extreme leftist example of lobbying for unconstitutional legislation"
I think Caleb's point is that Communists lobby for unconstitutional legislation.
And I hate communists.
