There is a serious lack of smoke in this thread.

History Channel is running a special on Drug use. It's terrific.

"All I'm saying is if you wanna smoke pot, then be prepared to spend a lot of time laughing with your friends."

This is great.

Clinton campaign ad text:
It’s the toughest job in the world.
You need to be ready for anything -- especially now, with two wars, oil prices skyrocketing and an economy in crisis.
Harry Truman said it best -- if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Who do you think has what it takes?
I’m Hillary Clinton and I approve this message.

The reply from the Obama Campaign?

"Now one of Clinton’s Laws of Politics is this: If one candidate's trying to scare you and the other one's trying to get you to think; if one candidate's appealing to your fears and the other one's appealing to your hopes, you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope. That's the best."
- Bill Clinton, 2004

Feh to all of you alls.

Feh, say I, Feh.

I think I may have finally reached the point where something pissed me off so much that I cannot write a rant about it.

I'm just staring at this screen incapable of writing words...

Must break logjam.

Caleb said...

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. And, that's where Hillary belongs, in the kitchen...

_J_ said...

My assumption is that Hillary makes terrible pies.

Roscoe said...

I say, Scornomancer, you offer me NOTHING on this, the day of days?

Your showing has proven poor, old chap.

Caleb said...

Why isn't Martha Stewart running? Her fall Applecrisp once saved a good friend of mind from death by a severe cold.

_J_ said...

I tried to write a rant but the subject made me too mad. So it was less a substantive rant and more of a "fuck stupid people".

_J_ said...

...which I guess is based on the assumption that all of the rants I do post are something more than "fuck stupid people".

Which, really, may not be the case.

Roscoe said...

you know who I miss? Ellen Feiss.

And that, kiddies, is both topical and true.

The library on campus has added a few video games to their selection, and apparently that prompted the unearthing of some PC games including Riven, The Neverhood, and...get this...an official DigDug port on 5 1/4" floppy disk.

C:\> B:

The system cannot find the drive specified because this is not 1990.

Foiled again! Might see if I can get that copy of The Neverhood to work, though.

_J_ said...

I have a 5 1/4 drive in my room.

Finally! It has a use!

Roscoe said...

GAH! Dig to the Dug, Old Man to Mister Driller's Modern Young Whipppersnapper!

Dug won't take no can't find drive sass, you hear? HE's got a pump AND drill, and he's not averse to using them, if you get his drift.

_J_ said...

You're a crazy person.

I would like to thank Tantric for pushing my agenda with their new single to include the violin as a reputable rock instrument.

And just for kicks:
more proof!

_J_ said...

Hasn't Dave Matthews band been providing violin-centric rock for years?

_J_ said...

Magic: The Gathering III apparently launches, apparently sucks.

_J_ said...

Miley Cyrus to write her memoirs

So, 15 year olds are writing memoirs.

Neat.

kylebrown said...

Woo I'm going to work for Cha Cha! I'm excited.

kylebrown said...

DMB in my opinion provides no raw emotion in their music, and to call it rock in my opinion is an insult to rock. But I will let it slide because they have pushed the violin agenda.

... for now

kylebrown said...

Although it sounds weird, yes a 15 year old can write memoirs. A memoir doesn't require someone to be old, it merely requires something to have happened in one's own life that one wishes to write about. A memoir isn't about the author's entire life but merely a small chunk of it, and it seems most sensible for an author to write a memoir while their memory of such time is still fresh.

Woot on the job front, Kyle.

Jay should come to Cincinnati this weekend! It could be a veritable Young House reunion!

_J_ said...

sex?

Roscoe said...

And that right there? Why a Young House Reunion probably shouldn't be.

I'm told there's nothing more awkward than trying to revive a menage-a-trois.

Perhaps, just perhaps, you should just treasure your memories of the triple, J.

_J_ said...

You're supposed to say "money's too tight for sex."

Or "yes".

Caleb said...

I think, you're confusing sex with steak.

_J_ said...

That's impossible.

_J_ said...

The prices in the vending machine at work went up by $.05. So now a very small bag of pretzles costs $.60 and a bag of spicy sweet Doritos costs $.85. Happily, I bring my own pretzles to work so these prices do not concern me.

But this sort of shit is the sort of thing I do not even want to know.

Four months till grad school...

According to Fox News, "researchers from the Cancer Council of Victoria found that men who masturbated more than five times each week were one-third less likely to develop [prostate] cancer".

Roscoe said...

Why is Victoria looking at men masturbating in such excess?

What, precisely, is this Victoria's interest in such activities?

_J_ said...

"What, precisely, is this Victoria's interest in such activities?"

I don't know about Victoria, but her Cancel Council can't seem to look at anything else.

kylebrown said...

What about men who masturbate more than 5 times daily?

_J_ said...

That's a good question...

I wonder if it needs to be spread out over the week or if a person could, say, just masturbate five times one day a week and be good?

kylebrown said...

I would just like to say that I have been fighting Prostate Cancer for over a decade now.

_J_ said...

I've fought Prostate Cancer since 6th grade.

And while I have won the battle thus far I shall never cease.

Never.

Roscoe said...

Do you all want Cancer Fighter badges or something?

Because.. really, if so, I'd like a badge that says Master of my Own Domain.

kylebrown said...

You and I both! To the death, I shall fight this debilitating disease! Together we can make a difference!!!

On second thought, please strike that last sentence from the record. Keep up the good work.

MA17 said...

Episode One + Benny Hill

Once the clip starts, I think you'll probably be able to figure out what's going to happen, but even still, I lolled.

_J_ said...

"Together we can make a difference!!!"

I'm flattered.

Really.

Roscoe said...

You know who rocks?

Rocket Raccoon and his Human Hangers On.

_J_ said...

Here is an e-mail sent by a customer:

"Pleas let us know wenn the material well bee delivret ?"

Huyuck.

MA17 said...

For the record:

Brian Ashcraft does not know the difference between 2D and 3D.

kylebrown said...

Looks 2D to me.

Roscoe said...

3D character design on a 2D plane, like the heyday of the 90's fighting games.

Ashcraft actually is talking sense, I hate to say.

This as opposed to the Virtua Fighter/Tekken/Soul Caliber new/now de riguer 3D plane.

Yeah, we can get into a whole long diatribe about how they're basically the same thing with a side-step function and a twirly camera, because the game inevitably automatically seeks out the one plane between the two combatants..

Roscoe said...

Also, I want to play that sonovabitch.

Yesterday, Tycho mentioned he "had the opportunity to tuck a Star Control homage in the strip." I have tried to find said homage on three separate occasions now. Did anyone else catch this and notice what exactly he did? I am apparently a failure for I can't find it, and would like someone to explain it to me.

_J_ said...

Link to strip?

kylebrown said...

My best guess is that this is the comic in question. The link Tycho made on the news post was broken and just lead back to the home page.

MA17 said...

The reference is subtle

kylebrown said...

damn you onomatopoeia!!!!!
