Mike went to school with 27 Jennifers

New Mike Doughty Record, Golden Delicious, comes out today. It is really fucking great.

pownce.com is just another facebook/myspace/IM replacement.

while it is a social networking website, it is for file sharing.

as for when we were playing with it in december, it was still in beta and you were using IE.

the advantage pownce has over sending files via an IM program is

1) it has permanence. you can get the file at your leisure
2) both people do not have to be online at the same time and do not have to be using the exact same version of the IM client. Which is nearly impossible at this point since you and ros use Trillian, i use aduim etc
3) social networks seem to have a function way beyond just sending messages. They are a public space were IM is a privet space. That is an awful metaphor but it is the best i have been able to come up with.

as for pownce - it is for sending files. It does not do a lot else.; February 21, 2008 at 1:44 AM
