I really don't like adventure games.

Unless they have leveling.
And item collection.
And multiplayer.

But then they're RPGs.

Did you play any of the Lucas Arts ones?

You know, the ones that Yahtzee puts in the like column?

I played Day of the Tentacle until I stopped shortly after starting.

After that I watched one of my friends play a section (Greg #5 I think) and I remember that you had the freeze the gerbil so that in the future you could go to the freezer and get the gerbil to turn the wheel to do something.

Wow. Great. Fuck you, game.

As far as I can tell the only reason people play adventure games it to amass that smug sense of self-satisfaction which comes from the part of the brain which controls the "I found out that I had to freeze this gerbil and didn't have to read Gamefaqs to figure it out." component of smugness.

And, personally, I get my smug sense of self-satisfaction from other sources such as amassing Phat Lootz and reading Heidegger.

I don't think there is anything wrong with people playing adventure games and refusing to consult gamefaqs.

It's just not for me.
